Who's ready to put points on the board at the first fast cat trial of 2026 in Virginia? I'll be on track photographing the action at the Virginia Beach Kennel Club & Hampton Roads Obedience Training Club fast cat trial January 1-4 at Providence Park in Virginia Beach!

A few things I'm considering going into 2026 for Fast Cat Trials;

With multiple days of events, I'm open to suggestions of where you'd like photos taken from - either the catch pen, the starting line, or side shots. I've considered alternating days between each and would love to hear your thoughts (example: Thursday for side shots, Friday at the starting line, Saturday and Sunday at the catch pen)

With the sheer volume of work that comes with taking 15,000+ images in a trial weekend and being able to deliver the BEST in a timely manner, please take the time to let me know if you'd like photos of your run. I fully understand that some of these weekends ADD UP FAST or if you've recently gotten some awesome shots recently, I promise you won't hurt my feelings if you simply let me know "not this time" on photos. I will be double-checking with everyone going forward as they step into the catch pen so I can either make sure I'm in the best spot to capture the action or step out to take a small break as we don't often get those while working trials.

Pre-sales, pre-orders, priorities! If you'd like to see the addition of pre-sales/pre-orders for the day or the entire trial, I'd love your input! This builds on that previous point of letting me know if you'd like photos to guarantee I'll be in the right place to capture the highlights of everyone's runs who truly want photos. With offering pre-sales/pre-orders it'll also come with private gallery priority for viewing, downloading, and ordering images, that will arrive BEFORE the full gallery is released which is an added bonus.

It was a great time photographing the first fast cat track we ran on back in Fall of 2023, despite the heavy rains on Saturday. Bittersweet knowing it's likely the last time fast cat will be held there, but happy to have had the opportunity ☺️

Not often do i get to photograph my own boy, Tuna, doing his favorite thing in the entire world! THIS MAN LOVES FAST CAT!

Thank you, Speed Dog Coursing and Five Flags Training Club, for having us to photograph fast cat at the Escambia Equestrian Center in Pensacola, Florida over Thanksgiving. Tuna and Cherry surely enjoyed it!

With being so hyper-focused on getting photos and galleries out, I've completely overlooked December I have a few weekends left for either portrait sessions, ringside coverage, and event bookings. Currently the last 3 weeks of the year are WIDE OPEN.

Fast Cat Friday? Finish Line Friday? FCAT Friday?

Some have to see it to believe it, but yes! Ching does smile! 😂

One of my favorite moments of the RDOC trial was actually at the end of the day, taking this photo for Sarah. Sarah had the idea to take a lovely finale portrait for Finch's retirement from fast cat with Ching once Finch earned her FCAT title. I would love to see more people taking photos like this and celebrating their dogs' titles and accomplishments, so I've compiled a couple of notes for everyone!

If you know you're going to earn a new title at a trial, make sure the club knows so they have plenty of beautiful rosettes for everyone!

Communicate it beforehand and grab your photographer! We are more than happy to take a professional photo like this for you guys either in front of the new title/banner display most clubs put together, or something different and one-off like this one.

The absolute best time to take a photo like this is at the beginning of the trial, but at the end of the day. Saturdays are when fun run entries are the highest and Sundays we are ready to pack up after a long trial! So really, any day before if you know you're titling that weekend is a perfect time to grab us for a portrait, and the end of the day is best when all the action has died down!

Need to get your dog's attention for the photo at a loud and high-energy event? A grocery bag/trash bag works great, it's what they've been chasing all day! They will give you ALL the expression.

Getting Ching to smile for a photo? Well, you're on your own with that one! 🤣 It may have involved the conversation about going to Mexican for lunch after a long day or memories of past events, runs, and dogs we love. Some will say AI or photoshop. The world may never know.

Are you running fast cat in Gloucester October 25th and 26th or still considering entering?

I'll be your photographer for the event! 📸 if you're not familiar, Gloucester Kennel Club runs on a permanent track tucked away in the country with a massive run off that's shaded. It's actually the track Tuna earned his BCAT title! If you're not entered into Doswell or going to White Post that weekend, come out and have some fun with your dogs!

I'm really not sure it was raining hard enough that Saturday for RDOC's fast cat trial right here in Mechanicsville at the end of September, what are your thoughts? 🤔

9 days of fast cat in 11 days is not for the faint of heart, but I wouldn't have it any other way. All 6 days of Suffolk are live on the website and RDOC's trial in Mechanicsville is posted for pre-registration.

Tuna is the driving force behind the dive back into photography and we had to celebrate with his very own birthday cake from @clementinesdogbakery

September 17th to the 23rd I'll be in Suffolk photographing Fast Cat for Langley Kennel Club, Virginia Beach Kennel Club, & Merrimac Dog Training Club. THAT'S 7 DAYS OF FAST CAT!

September 26th to the 28th I'll be in Mechanicsville photographing Fast Cat for Richmond Dog Obedience Club! All together that's 10 days of bag crushing, dirt flinging, bag crushing chaos in two weeks we get to do all for the sake of our dogs having an absolute blast!
(Saturday, Amanda will be the one in the catch pen, so be nice! 😉)

Saturday the 27th I'll be running down to Virginia Beach to capture the Cavalier Doberman Pinscher Club's Working Aptitude Evaluation Test, so as previously stated Amanda will be handling the fast cat track for the day while I'm in Blackwater.

September 28th I'm leaving out of Richmond and headed to work at the Border Collie National Specialty at Purina Farms outside of St. Louis, Missouri! More details to come on that!

That leads me into October...Previously I was scheduled to work a fast cat event October 9th - 13th up in the Stafford area but due to recent circumstances, I can no longer support the event at no fault of the club. I'll just say that I hope the club finds a much better and safer alternative going forward. THAT BEING SAID I have availability that weekend! Know of a show wanting a ringside photographer? Another sporting event that needs coverage? Heck we can even do a fall-themed photoshoot that weekend! I'm up for ideas, feel free to share my contact with anyone or club you think would benefit from some great photos! I'll even toss you a referral bonus 😉

It's been a mountain of work to build out the albums, cull, process, and provide gallery worthy photos for you all! I do not wish to provide mediocre images in a gallery to then make adjustments after the fact unless requested and I do not want to put the work on you all having to sort through thousands of images to hopefully find the photos you'll actually enjoy!

There’s just something special about capturing that split-second connection between a dog and their handler. Ringside photography isn’t just about getting the perfect free stack or movement shot, it’s about documenting the connection and the work that gets you there.

Also, with the A/C being pretty non-existent at the venue, I did cut out early Friday and Saturday because, well, it was miserable. Well, the news is in and it's not looking good.

All of my original files and images from March to June have been wiped out with no chance of recovery. That being said, I still am able to fulfill and access my prior galleries through my website that have been published, thankfully. I'm waiting on a small print run of images from those galleries, so I will know shortly if I'm able to fulfill any prints you all may want.

To everyone who's been understanding, sincerely, thank you. I take responsibility for a mishap that should have never occurred and now have redundancy overkill to make sure it's prevented in the future.

This photo of our daughter and Tuna was one of the many lost, but I'm so lucky I still have it thanks to being published ❤

You don't need words when the eyes say it all.

There’s a look every dog gives their person. With portraits, that’s a moment I always hope to capture. It's the moment that catches their eyes where you just have to know to see it. The one that hides all the details in our dog's mood, their attitude, their goofy nature, and every bit of unconditional love our dogs have to give us.

A portrait doesn’t just show what your dog looks like, it shows who they are, and that story starts with the eyes.

A glimpse of what goes on in the head of a photographer while on a session, and one of the many things I try and capture while I'm working and photographing your beloved pets. This is one of my favorites I took during a recent portrait session with Bo that I feel captures his eyes in that perfect light.

What a day running fast cat with Richmond Dog Obedience Club - RDOC at the Hanover-Cold Harbor Ruritan Park. Figured I would share a sneak peek into my weekend having dogs run REALLY FAST in my direction all day as I sort through images. Can you tell it's fun? I mean, look at that smile!

The March schedule is out!

I'm still on the fence for the 27th-30th as I still may enter Doswell and show that weekend, but as of now that weekend is available and I'd love to fill it!

Another one of my personal favorites of Mira!

When I had gotten to our location, I had taken a few minutes to walk around and observe to see what I thought would highlight Mira well. One of those locations was here, through this overgrown alley framed by stone walls, looking up to the street ahead. What you can't see is how slick and muddy this turned out to be, also being on a pretty decent slope down! We still took the chance, heading up cautiously, trying not to slip or get anyone muddy. Luckily for me, we were successful, and I was able to capture my vision with this lovely dog!

Also spent this past Sunday photographing Mira, a beautiful Basenji, at City Dock Park in Fredericksburg. With the Rappahannock and the RF&P Railroad Bridge as the backdrop, she carried herself with that signature Basenji confidence—graceful, alert, and completely unfazed by the cold. She sure kept her eyes on the seagulls in the background though 🤣 Excited to share more from this session!

When you’ve got a dozen Australian Shepherds, it’s hard to pick a favorite moment—but Arson and Chevy made sure they stood out!

Arson and Chevy both brought the smiles, charging through the field with pure silliness and a flair for the dramatic. Both owned the spotlight with their presence and dynamic, picture-perfect moves. These two were unstoppable in their own ways, and capturing their personalities was an absolute thrill.

One of the highlights of our New Year’s Eve shoot was watching these Aussies embrace the creek with endless enthusiasm. It’s amazing how action photography captures not just movement but the pure joy of the moment. Though I didn't catch focus where intended, the face of our pal on the right where I did tells it all 😂

Capturing the chaos—mud flying, paws kicking up water, and those big, happy smiles—is what makes action photography so rewarding. This session was nonstop movement, and I loved every second of it.
